Moussa is relating the everyday realities of life as a talibé (child beggar) in Africa. These children are often exploited by corrupt marabouts (religious leaders) who, instead of providing them with a religious education, force them to collect money. They have to walk miles every day in ragged clothes and they are beaten if they fail to bring home 1000CFA.
