BIOGRAPHY

Born in Benin in October 1984, Mouna grew up in Cotonou. After gaining her baccalaureat she moved to Senegal.

Tongue in cheek, Mouna calls herself DCH - Dangerous, Cool and Hot: it is, she says, an expression that reflects her personality.

She brings this attitude to her music and she likes to "tell it like it is".

Senegal and Benin are not the only countries that Mouna knows; she has also visited Ghana, Burkina, Niger and Nigeria. Her travels have enabled her to learn about other cultures and she gets on well with people from diverse backgrounds.

Her passion for music was developed in her childhood through a series of meetings with the great musical names of the time. Her father, a music connoisseur, used to invite the talents of the day to the house and thus Mouna rubbed shoulders with such artists as Angélique Kidjo, Kassav, Nayanka Bell, Aicha Koné and many more. These meetings influenced her and helped her develop her musical talents and specifically her excellent pianist skills. Her first song was a mix of rap, RnB and Dance Hall and went down a storm with her Beninese public.
